About

West Epping Preschool is a community preschool that began in 1955 and is successfully managed by a group of interested parents known as “The Management Committee”. Parents have the opportunity to be part of this team or part of the general committee that supports the preschool, thus making a worthwhile contribution towards the direction of the preschool and their child’s early education. Our preschool is a non profit organisation and relies on Government subsidies and fees for financial support.

Due to Government funding guidelines priority of access is given to children that turn 4 years old by 31 July. Their aim is to give all children at least 1 year of preschool prior to starting school.

Preschools across NSW receive Start Strong Funding are are therefore ineligible for Child Care Subsidy. Start Strong Funding began in 2017 in an aim to reduce fees for children whose attendance is 600 hours per year in their year before school. This means hours of preschool operation should be available to each child for 15 hours per child, per school term week.

From 2021 onwards our class structures will be as follows:

Kookaburra Class : Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9am to 3pm

Possum Class: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9am to 3pm

Lorikeet Class: Thursday, Friday 8am to 3:30pm

Wombat Class: Thursday, Friday 8am to 3:30pm

Each class has a maximum 1:10 ratio, with 20 children and 2 educators. Each class has an Early Childhood Teacher and a Diploma or Certificate 3 Educator. We employ additional Early Childhood teachers to help support children with additional needs.

Preschool terms will be those observed by the NSW Government Schools.

West Epping Preschool would like to Acknowledge the Darug People and pay respect to the Elders past, present and future, for they hold the Indigenous memories and traditions of culture and Country for all Australian people.
